At TÜVTÜRK stations, your vehicle is checked against the following critical points. Reviewing these before your appointment improves your chances of passing on the first attempt.
Braking system (brake pad and disc wear, brake balance)
Tire tread depth and condition (legal limit 1.6 mm)
Front and rear headlight alignment, turn signals and brake lights
Excessive play or faults in the steering and suspension system
Exhaust emission levels (petrol/diesel limit values)
Window tint transmittance (must not fall below the legal light-transmission threshold)
Chassis and engine number matching the registration document
Seat belts and airbag warning light
Horn, windshield wipers and reverse light
For LPG/CNG-converted vehicles, the system installation and tank inspection certificate
Traffic insurance (policy must be valid)
No bodywork modifications that contradict the registration document
Vehicle registration document (a photocopy is accepted)
Valid traffic insurance policy
LPG/CNG tank inspection certificate, if applicable
Cash or a debit/credit card to pay the inspection fee
Vehicles with an expired inspection are subject to a traffic fine and can be pulled from circulation. In addition, if an accident occurs while the inspection is expired, the insurer may seek reimbursement from the vehicle owner for any compensation paid. Fine amounts are revised every year — check the General Directorate of Security's official announcements for the current figure.
Yes, all amounts in TÜVTÜRK's published fee schedule include VAT. Payments can be made in cash or by debit/credit card.
For cars, minibuses, pickups, off-road vehicles and motorcycles registered for the first time, the first periodic inspection is due 3 years after the registration date. Subsequent inspections are then repeated every 2 years.
Yes. Vehicles used commercially — taxis, shared taxis (dolmuş), minibuses (T-plate), buses, trucks and tractor units — are inspected once a year.
No. Driving with an expired inspection is subject to an administrative fine, and the vehicle can be pulled from traffic under Highway Traffic Law No. 2918. In the event of an accident, insurers may also exercise their right of recourse.
The roadworthiness inspection is an additional check applied to heavy vehicles such as buses, trucks, tractor units and tankers. It is not performed for cars, minibuses, pickups, special-purpose vehicles or off-road vehicles.
If your vehicle is found "defective," you can fix the issues and have it re-inspected free of charge within 30 days. A recheck after this period is subject to a new inspection fee.
